What are the public health implications of the Paris agreement?

The Archivist has tried to follow the progress of the Paris Agreement and the regular meetings of the good and the great of the Group of Seven (Eight) G7 (G8). In 2018, a review identified 36 studies that modelled the health effects of climate change mitigation in the areas of energy, transport, food and agriculture, household energy, and industry. Several studies have modelled the nationally determined contributions (NDCs) and mitigation in the energy sector and agriculture sector, consistent with the Paris Agreement. Hamilton I et al. [Lancet Planet Health 2021;5:e74–83] have highlighted that the NDCs serve to meet the goals of the Paris Agreement of staying "well below 2°C". However, existing NDC commitments are inadequate to achieve this goal.
